February 8, 2026
- During the month of February, we will focus on loving God more, loving ourselves, and our neighbors. The scripture reference is taken from John 3:16, and it reads as such:
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- We want to remind you of opportunities to continue to serve God throughout the week with us:

UPCOMING SECF EVENTS
- The next leadership meeting is tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 13th at 6:00 p.m.
- There will be a meeting for our Ushers and those who are interested in being a part of the Usher Ministry on Sunday, February 15th, immediately following the morning service.
- On Saturday, February 21st, the Love Ministry will host its 1st meeting of the year from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m. here at SECF. Our theme for the quarter will be “Born Again and Anointed: What does it mean to belong to God and be chosen for his purpose?” The plan is that we end the year with a full cup and better than we began. We look forward to growing together in God’s grace this year! A handout providing details on the events for the entire year can be found in the church’s vestibule. Please pick up a handout as you exit the building. Please feel free to bring your refreshments.
- A combined men’s and women’s fellowship event is planned for Saturday, February 28th. We are going bowling! Doesn’t that sound like fun? We hope everyone will plan to attend. The event will be held at AMF Waldorf Lanes, located at 11920 Acton Lane, Waldorf, MD. Please plan to arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. Mark your calendars!
- In celebration of Black History Month, we are asking everyone to wear African attire on Sunday, February 22nd. We will also host our Black History Celebration event. Please invite your family and friends to come out and celebrate with us!
- SECF has been selected to receive a free AED from the D.C. Fire Department, along with installation and training. However, training requires a minimum of 50 attendees before the AED can be installed. That’s where we need the help of the congregation. Additional information will be forthcoming on the date for training. A sign-up sheet will be available. We need all hands-on deck. Thanking you in advance for your participation.
- The tax season is upon us. AARP Tax-Aide provides free tax assistance to those who qualify, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income. You can search the web by typing AARP Tax Aide in the search engine to find a location near you and to make an appointment. A listing of all sites will be published on the church’s website. You can also reach out to Barbara Roberson.
